1000 albums to listen to before you die

The Guardian has a list of the 1000 albums to listen to before you die here. It includes albums by R.D. Burman, notably the Sholay soundtrack and work by newer bands like The Beta Band and Arcade Fire. It incrediby also has Bappi Lahiri’s ‘disco Dancer’ which incidentally is one of the albums I’ve listened to :(.  I counted down and I’ve listened to 75 of those on the list. The problems with this list as many others is that it is completely pointless because of everyone’s different views and intense likes/dislikes. Full marks for effort and even more if the team has listened to all the albums. For instance, there’s no mention of Pearl Jam, CSN, Jethro Tull, Smashing Pumpkins. Lesser albums of bands like Oasis, the Who and Led Zeppelin being picked and no mention for ‘Revolver’ either. There’s a lot of music that I want to listen to particularly Nick Cave and Husker Du. But, it’s a nice way to kill a boring Friday evening at work 🙂
